Swings and Smiles Golf Day
Our newly retired Director David Wood has been helping Swings and Smiles with their charity Golf Day, due to take place on the 22nd of May 2024 at Newbury and Crookham Golf Club. Swings & Smiles provides a place to play and support for children with special needs and their families.

We have a commitment to help charities and look to donate at least 1% of our profit to good causes each year. With the mortgage market suppressed at the moment we had to think of a way of providing help when funds are tight.
So I am now providing my time one morning per week to help Swings and Smiles co-ordinate their golf day and ensure that it raises as much money as possible. Swings and Smiles are using me to provide advice from a Golfers point of view as well as obtaining and providing donations for the silent auction and raffle. So my time has been spent contacting golf clubs, asking them to donate complimentary four balls to auction. I have also been contacting our business contacts to request prize donations and help.
We will be providing prizes for the top 3 teams, as well as individual prizes for “nearest the pin in”, “longest drive! and “nearest the pin in 2”. We also hope to set up a “beat the Pro” competition on one of the holes where all players will win a prize where their tee shot beats the Pros pre-determined effort.
After numerous emails and subsequent phone calls we currently have 8 complimentary four balls to auction, but I hope to get to 14 in total. As of today my thanks go out to the following Golf Clubs for donating…….

I hope that the donations and prizes offered will help the Swings and Smiles golf day become one of the best on the charity golf days calendar. We will continue to update you with progress on auction and raffle prizes as well as details of the day as they unfold.
Cost for a team of 4 are £300 and this includes Bacon rolls and coffee of arrival, 18 holes of golf at the excellent Newbury and Crookham Golf Club, with a raft of prizes and a Barbeque to finish the day.
